Safety First

Safety is the first and foremost responsibility of any railroad.  When riding our trains please keep the following in mind:

  • Use both hands and provided hand holds when boarding, walking between the cars and leaving the train.
  • Wear shoes at all times.
  • Do not run on-board the train at any time.
  • Do not place hands, arms, feet, legs or heads outside any open window or over the edge of the open-air cars.
  • Do not stand between the cars or in vestibules
  • Children should be accompanied by an adult when moving between the cars.

Restrooms

Restrooms are available at the depot, Norwood, and Ottawa.  There are no restrooms on the train.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted at any time on-board the train.  This includes the vestibules.  There is no smoking inside the depot or other public buildings at the Railway.

ADA Accessibility

Due to the historic nature of the equipment being operated by the Midland Railway, we are unable to accommodate persons confined to wheel chairs or those who are not independently ambulatory unless assisted by accompanying Non-Midland personnel.

Throughout the year, the Railway schedules special event weekends that couple exciting themes with a ride on the train.  Examples include a train robbery at Maple Leaf, Ice Cream trains, and other events.

The train may operate on modified schedules during special events.  The calendar on our website lists all the Railway’s operating days.  You may also view the special event schedule directly.
