Special Event Excursions

Throughout the year, the Railway schedules special event weekends that couple exciting themes with a ride on the train.  Examples include a train robbery at Maple Leaf, Ice Cream trains, and other events. The train may operate on modified schedules during special events.

American’s With Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessibility

Our Rail cars/Passenger cars were built between the 1890’s to 1940’s before the passage of the American’s With Disabilities Act (ADA) and both the steps up to the vestibule and the width of the door openings require us to work closer with our ADA citizens to provide them access to the train.  As hard as we try, we may not always be able to accommodate all ADA requests.

We accommodate may elderly passengers each year.  To board the train you must use a step box and then go up three to four steps.  There are handrails in the entry way/vestibule areas.  Our Conductors and staff are there to assist you on and off the train, if necessary.  Walkers can usually pass through the hallways.

For our guests who are in wheel chairs, we cannot accommodate large electric units.  The only way at this time that we can accommodate those guests who are wheel chair bound, is with a folding, or portable, wheel chair.  To accommodate the needs of the ADA guest, we ask that you have help with you to assist you on and off the train.  Our Conductors and staff will attempt to help, if possible or able.

For our guests with canes and walkers, we can help you up the first three to four steps if needed.

Guests who require special assistance need to inform the Ticket Agent/Conductor at the time of ticket purchase.
