Trains to Ottawa Temporarily Cancelled Due to Flash Flooding Issues

On Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017, Eastern Kansas was victim to flash flooding due to the 8 to 11 inches of rainfall in a short period of time.  Midland Railway Historical Association (Midland Railway) was an unfortunate victim to the flash flooding, as many were that morning.

Southern Douglas County, Kansas and Northern Franklin County, Kansas heavy rains flooded fields and streams, backing up water that eventually washed out approximately 1/2 mile of Midland Railway’s tracks south of Norwood, KS (North of Ottawa, KS approximately 3 miles).

Midland Railway, a not for profit 501c3 and volunteer operated organization, has volunteers working to repair minor areas between Baldwin City, Kansas and Norwood, Kansas so the operation of excursion trains and the Kansas Belle Dinner Train can continue to Norwood for the time being, until repairs to the main line can be made south of Norwood.

We thank all of our valued friends and visitors for your understanding during this time of repair.
